Day 6 – Team I – Srinivasa Varadhan



Custom Table:

 SPSS Custom Tables is an analytical tool that helps to make more informed decisions.
Custom table is used to compare means or proportions for demographic groups, customer segments, time periods, or other categorical variables and identify trends, changes, or major differences in your data.

Custom Tables includes the following significance tests:
·         Chi-square test of independence
·         Comparison of column means (t test)
·         Comparison of column proportions (z test)

To open the custom table builder, from the menus, choose:
Analyze > Tables > Custom Tables... This opens the custom table builder

To create a table, you simply drag and drop variables where you want them to appear in the table.

Example: In data file Retail
Select (click) Primary department in the variable list and drag and drop it into the Rows area and variables like Price satisfaction, Variety satisfaction, Organization satisfaction, Service satisfaction in column area then click OK button.

Custom table will be:
Primary department
Price satisfaction
Variety satisfaction
Organization satisfaction
Service satisfaction

The table explains the mean between primary department (like clothing, shoes) in retail stores and their different satisfaction variables.  These mean value can be used in the permap tool  to find different satisfaction  for customers in each departments.
