Day 7 - Team F (Shishir)

The day started by learning how to plot graphs. We started by plotting bubble graph in excel. While plotting a bubble graph the values on both the X and Y axis should be continuous variables. Some of the examples in the given data are monthly expenditure, usage period, voice, Sms etc.
Than create a custom table using “Name of service provider in row” and using “voice”, ”SMS”, ”other”  in column. Once this table is created, plot a bubble graph and format the axis so that all the bubbles are not clustered in single area.
Once this is done create a proximity matrix. Then we copy the proximity matrix table into excel and then to notepad and make the notepad file PERMAP compatible by writing the syntax above the data table. One we have done this we will import the file to permap.

After the permap save  the solution and copy the table in excel again. Now this will have 2 variables. Now we crosstab to find the 3rd variable. The  variable can number of people using the various features of the mobile such as SMS, Alarm etc.
Now using this 3 variables plot a bubble chart again. Now the data is ready for analysis.

APPLICATION OF BUBBLE CHART
You can use a bubble chart instead of a scatter chart if your data has three data series that each contain a set of values. The sizes of the bubbles are determined by the values in the third data series.
Bubble charts are often used to present financial data. Different bubble sizes are useful to visually emphasize specific values.

Possible Uses
Bubble graphs can be used for:
  • Data with three variables
  • Financial data
