Another day, another two lectures! And this time at a very
interesting time as well: 7pm – 10 pm!
We started off with sir explaining to us the format of the
final exam question paper. One of the questions included ‘Discriminant
Analysis’, as was introduced yesterday. So we opened the ‘BankLoan’ file and
performed a discriminant analysis on it, predicted the number of defaulters for
every input. We got a decently accurate prediction.
We moved back to the ‘GSS93’ file and went back to our
analysis on different music genres from the day before. We calculated with the
help of discriminant analysis which genres of music are preferred by males and
which genres by females. Our results were mostly correct, and helped us gauge
an understanding of consumer preferences, grouped by respondents’ sex.
We opened an Excel file and jotted down three major laptop
specifications: Price; Battery Life; Weight. We listed out our preferences,
giving them scores and rating them.
Then we did the same for food. We copied the various
combinations on an SPSS file using ‘Orthogonal Design Generation’. Then we proceeded to assign values for each
combination. We saved the file and opened it back in SPSS. We got 16
combinations and copied them on Excel for rating.
The analysis and further work on this rating will be taken
up tomorrow!
