Day 6 - Team B (Manas Mani)

Lecture No. 11 -

Presentation by students on topics:

  1. Demography of Grocery Shoppers in USA (explanation of the distribution of shoppers into various attributes from the selected sample size)
  2. Retail Sales Data interpretation using Dendogram to analyze the data.
  3. Decision support system based on Socio-demographic segment and distribution channel analysis in the US furniture market (method used was Dendogram)
  4. Airlines Competitive Positing Analysis using Dendogram

PERMAP

Demonstration of Minimum Objective Function Value with the help of data provided by sir - Company/Brand Perception. A comparison between ACC and Orient to understand which is closer to Ambuja.
To use the Minimum Objective Function Value, we need to use the 'Auto Repeat' and 'Auto Stop' feature, and find the minimum to understand the exact needed value.
Second example given was a questionnaire prepared for designing of the page for music download. The data collected for the same was transformed into a PERMAP file.

Interpretation is done using probability. e.g. if 2 options like itunes and Google are close to one another, the probability is that the 2 options are used by a person more. This can be used to understand what strategy is needed to design the OVI site.e.g. the OVI site should be made closer to resemble those of itunes and Google, etc.

Lecture No. 12 -

Attribute Based Mapping using file of Retail

The above is about satisfaction during shopping!
In order to map the stores, we need to find the mean value of each store and its attribute. Mean value is 1-5 for each attribute. fastest way of doing it is: Analyze-Table-Custom Table. Then drag and drop the Variable 'store', after right clicking on it and converting it into nominal, into the row option on the right side. Then from Price Satisfaction to Overall Satisfaction, drag and drop everything into the columns option. Output obtained is below:

Copy and paste the above to excel to display the original value (as shown below):

Copy and paste the above in a notepad file and make it PERMAP compatible. Type the below give 4 points above the data copied from excel.
  1. title=Store Satisfaction
  2. nobjects=4
  3. nattributes=6
  4. attributelist
Open/Load the Notepad file in PERMAP. The result is as below:
Click Start and the result achieved shows that:
  1. Satisfaction of 1 and 4 is high.
  2. Store 2 stands out.
After clicking on start, click on Map Evaluation>Attributes and then click on the option of all active vectors. Understanding the result as :

  1. Store 3- people are overall satisfied and also they are satisfied by the service provided
  2. Store 2- is doing well in price

The map is showing the relation between the attributes, which is not visible from the table. So the map above shows that price and variety are highly co-related. Also Service and Overall are close together, meaning that service is the last part of overall. Therefore in order to increase the overall, we need to concentrate on the service. From the image above, the boxes on the sides are attributes. We can remove any attribute from there. This is done basically to check what difference is caused due to change/removal of any attribute. Also the Attribute Evaluation option can be used to check simply one Vector instead of all of them together.
